PETALING JAYA, Jan 25 — Computers and equipment worth RM 600,000 used for mining Bitcoins were stolen from a car accessory shop just two days after they were stored there.

Over 40 units of the Antminer S9 Bitcoin mining machine, and PSU-Bitmain power supply blocks were stolen between midnight and 9am from the shop lot in Puncak Jalil, Serdang.

Serdang police chief Assistant Commissioner Megat Mohamad Aminuddin Megat Alias said forensic investigators found 22 fingerprints from the scene.

“Recordings from the closed-circuit television cameras captured the burglary, which showed it was carried by four unidentified man, said to be of dark complexion,” he said.

Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said the shop owner suspected something amiss this morning when he realised the main padlock of his office was broken.

He said only when the examined his unit, he realised the missing equipment from the third- floor shop lot unit.

“The owner told police the equipment belonged to a friend, who was running a Bitcoin mining business.

He said the equipment was stored in the victim’s unit since Tuesday, and was supposed to be there for 10 days until his friend’s shop completed their renovation.

Megat Mohamad Aminuddin said police are investigating the case under section 457 of the Penal Code for trespassing and theft.
