PERAK TENGAH, Jan 22 — The body of the younger of two siblings who went missing at a canal yesterday was found this morning.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zainal Abdullah said the body of Mohamad Raihan Abd Samad, aged six, was located at 8.55am and retrieved by the search and rescue team consisting of the Fire and Rescue Department, the police and Rela.

“The body of Mohamad Raihan’s older brother, Lokman Abdul Samad, was found at 4.52pm (yesterday) some 500m from the location where the siblings encountered difficulties,” he said in a WhatsApp message today.

“As for Mohamad Raihan, his body was found 50m away from where Lokman’s body was found,” he added.

The two victims and another brother, 18-year-old Kamarudin Abddul Samad, had gone for a swim at Felcra Seberang at about 11.30am yesterday when they were caught by a sudden gush of water.

The trio were said to have tried to swim to the embankment but Raihan and Lokman, 20, did not make it.

Kamarudin managed to save himself and sought help before making a police report.
