SHAH ALAM, Jan 12 ― Selangor is the latest state to be struck by floods.

Incessant rain, sometimes heavy, from Wednesday caused floods on Pulau Carey in the Kuala Langat district and forced the evacuation of 18 people from four families.

The Selangor Civil Defence Force said in a statement today that the evacuees, from Jalan Perepat in Pulau Carey, were being housed at the Taman Datok Hormat community hall in Teluk Panglima Garang.

They were moved out of their homes in stages from about 2pm yesterday, it said.
