JOHOR BARU, Jan 5 — The victim of a robbery who fought back and caused the death of the perpetrator was detained yesterday to facilitate investigations into the case which happened in  Taman Puteri Wangsa, Ulu Tiram near here on Wednesday.

Johor Bahru South police chief ACP Shahurinain Jais in a statement here said the 32-year-old victim was being investigated under the Criminal Procedure Code and had been placed on remand which expires on Jan 10.

The drama unfolded when the suspect broke into the victim’s home  but as he was trying to escape with the loot, the victim grabbed a 22-cm long knife and stabbed him in the back of the neck, severing his jugular artery.

During the scuffle, the victim was also injured and received eight stitches in the head at the  Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.
