PUTRAJAYA, Dec 25 — Both aerotrain services at KL International Airport (KLIA) resumed their normal operations from 3.48pm today, the airport operator, Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB), has confirmed
The services of an automated people mover that transports passengers between the main terminal to the satellite buildings were reportedly shut down temporarily due to emergency maintenance works.
“We would like to thank our engineering team for working round the clock to carry out the urgent corrective maintenance works on the trains. We also appreciate your (passengers) patience,” MAHB said in its official Facebook posting today.
MAHB also assured passengers that its airport operation teams across Malaysia were working hard to ensure a smooth and joyful experience during this peak travelling season.
Earlier, the airport operator said one of the two aerotrain services resumed operations at 11.22am today, and had advised passengers to be at the airport early to avoid unnecessary delays since more than 90,000 passengers daily were expected at the airport during this peak travelling season.
Yesterday, it was reported that the aerotrain service at KLIA was down again, causing a delay in travel as hundreds of passengers waited for buses to transport them. This was the third time a breakdown had occurred this year.
Several videos and photos posted on social media showed the entrance to the trains sealed with tapes reading ‘Maintenance in Progress’.
In September, MAHB managing director Datuk Badlisham Ghazali said the two trains, which had been operating for nearly 20 years, would undergo a major overhaul by the end of the year. — Bernama
