SADAO, Dec 17 — Two Malaysians escaped unscathed when their four-wheel-drive vehicle caught fire at the Sadao immigration checkpoint, this afternoon.

According to an officer at the checkpoint, the Penang-registered vehicle suddenly burst into flames when the 23-year-old driver and his female passenger were inside.

“A team of firefighters who rushed to the scene took about 10 minutes to extinguish the fire. The driver and his passenger escaped unhurt,” he said, here, today.

The officer said the two Malaysians were travelling from Penang to Hatyai.

The local authorities are investigating the cause of the fire outbreak. — Bernama
