Man drowns while catching fish in abandoned pond

NILAI, Dec 1 — A man was drowned while trying to free his fishing net in an abandoned pond in Kampung Masjid Lenggeng, near here this evening.

Nilai police chief Supt Zaldino Zaludin said in the incident, the victim, Ghazlan Johari, 24 who was fishing with two friends, had found his net was stuck in the pond.   

“At about 2pm, he went into the pond to adjust his net but slipped and vanished into the pool,” he said in a media statement here today.

Zaldino said the victim’s body was found at 4.45pm by a Fire and Rescue team from Mantin and was sent to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban for post-mortem. — Bernama
