KUANTAN, Dec 1 — Four policemen were jailed three years and fined RM45,000 each by the Sessions Court here yesterday after they were found guilty of accepting bribes totalling RM8.000, three years ago.
Judge Datuk Habibah Mohamed Yusof handed out the punishment to Cpl Mazlan Mohd Noh, 36, Constable Mohd Firdaus Abdullah, 26, Cpl Mohd Juhairy Jamaludin, 33, and L/Cpl Koperal Mohd Azmie Majid, 31.
The bribe was to be an inducement not to take action against one Mohd Syafiq Abdul Wahab for driving a lorry without a licence and transporting rubber wood without a permit.
The four, all attached to the Bandar Muadzam Shah police station, committed the offence between 2am and 4am on Dec 18, 2014 at Kedai Makan Sri Muadzam Ikan Bakar, Rompin. — Bernama
