KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 ― The People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and two non-governmental organisations (NGOs) today lodged a police report against a man with the “Datuk Seri” title who allegedly offered money after assaulting three Rela members last Friday.

Selayang Parliamentary Rela representative, Lieut Col Datuk Mohd Sani Mohd Zain, Ikatan Rakyat Insan Muslim Malaysia (IRIMM) chairman Amir Amsaa Alla Pitchay and Malaysian Muslim Chamber of Economic and Social Affairs (DESMMA) chairman, Mohd Fazil Abdullah lodged the report at Dang Wangi police station.

Amir Amsaa said the police and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should investigate and take appropriate action against the individual.

“The action to bribe Rela members shows his disrespect for the integrity and credibility of the department,” he told Bernama here today.

In the incident, three Rela members Melvin Cheong Mun Khai, 19, Leong Jiun Jie, 21, and Lee Weng Poh, 27, suffered injuries when they were allegedly hit and kicked by the suspect who was enraged after he was asked to move his car as the vehicle was obstructing traffic.
