PUTRAJAYA, Nov 1 — The “Datuk Seri” who is at the centre of an assault probe is expected to face graftbusters soon.

Reports were lodged following an alleged bribery attempt by the “Datuk Seri” to get several Rela members to withdraw their police reports over last Friday’s assault outside a temple.

A Rela platoon leader and three officers lodged separate reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the Kuala Lumpur headquarters yesterday.

Ampang Jaya Rela platoon leader Ho Hoong Keong confirmed the reports made by him and three other assaulted officers when contacted.

“We have made our reports on the instructions of our director-general,” he said.

Officers on duty Ranbo Lee, 27, Jackie Leong, 21, and Melvin Cheong, 19, who were allegedly beaten, kicked and punched by the “Datuk Seri” after they reprimanded him for obstructing traffic, also made reports at the same time.

The reports were against the “Datuk Seri” for his attempt of using a middleman to bribe them with RM10,000 each to withdraw their police reports.

This came after Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said on Monday the alleged bribery by the “Datuk Seri” should be reported to the MACC.

Ahmad Zahid said a “Datuk Seri” is a highly respected title given to an individual but it was not a licence to flout the law.

“I do not want to touch on the credibility of his title here but for a man so young with such a high title, he should know how to respect others and act in public,” he said.

“If you want to be respected you need to learn how to respect others first.”
