KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 ― The government announced a RM9 billion allocation for the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) under Budget 2018.

Putrajaya also said it would build 10,000 affordable homes for the force under a 1Malaysia Public Servant Housing-PDRM joint-agency programme, with prices set according to current salaries of officers.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said at the unveiling of the Budget that the initiative is meant to safeguard the welfare of the force.

At the same time the Malaysian Armed Forces will receive an allocation of RM14 billion under Budget 2018, while the maritime forces will get close to RM1 billion.

The Voluntary Corp will also see an increase in allocation to RM250 million for uniform and equipment upgrades, Najib announced.
