KOTA KINABALU, Oct 20 — The concern of Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak on the progress of information and communications technology (ICT) in Sabah has facilitated the state government’s efforts to develop the sector for the people in the state.

Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said he appreciated Salleh’s concern to meet him to discuss efforts that could be implemented between the federal and state governments to make Sabah on par with other states.

“I am grateful and thank Datuk Seri Dr Salleh for his initiative after being appointed as a member of the federal Cabinet to enquire what the federal government can do for Sabah.

“If there is no negotiations, if federal ministers from Sabah don’t meet with state ministers, don’t talk with state government leaders, of course problems will arise (in state development efforts) and this is what we have to stay away from,” he said at the launch of the wireless broadband facility here today.

Similarly, he said other federal ministers from Sabah appointed by the federal government with the consent of the state government were aware of their responsibilities to Sabah apart from their respective federal ministerial posts.

Musa said the people of Sabah trusted and expected the promises made by the federal government to them could be fulfilled better with the presence of representatives from Sabah in the federal Cabinet.

“When the people in Sabah have supported us and given us the trust and mandate to become elected representatives, whether as members of Parliament or state assemblymen, they want us to serve and carry out our duties that are expected of us,” he said.
