KUALA LUMPUR, May 24 — The TIME magazine’s opinion poll is not relevant to Malaysian politics, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.

He also stressed that the opinion poll by TIME would not really sway public opinion as those who support the opposition, or otherwise, are not going to shift their position just because it said United States (US) President Donald Trump is more popular than Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak outside his home constituency, the the town of Pekan in the state of Pahang.

“How did TIME conduct this opinion poll? How many respondents were polled and where do these respondents live?

“Is TIME saying that Najib and the other four world leaders are less popular than Trump in Terengganu and Kelantan (two Malaysian states) or in New York City?,” he questioned on his blog, sskeruak.blogspot.my, tonight.

Salleh pointed out that Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was supposed to be more popular than Donald Trump, and even President Barack Obama supported her, but still Trump won the US Presidency.

TIME voted (Datuk Seri) Anwar Ibrahim man-of-the-year and more popular than former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad but yet Dr Mahathir won the 1999 General Election,” he said.

TIME magazine in its report published on its website yesterday had included the Malaysian prime minister in its list of five world leaders who the publication claimed are less popular than Trump.
