PETALING JAYA, May 23 ― The Kuala Lumpur SEA Games this year will be featuring multiple Malaysian brands that are internationally recognised, Khairy Jamaluddin said today.

The youth and sports minister said he was “proud” that brands like Grab, Petronas and Air Asia are not just known locally or in Asia but around the world.

“I'm proud these are Malaysian companies. The SEA Games will be showcasing the rise of Malaysian entrepreneurs and brands.

“I feel nothing but pride because of homegrown Malaysian brands are known not just in Malaysia but in Southeast Asia and more,” he said during his speech while announcing Grab as a sponsor for the Games.

Khairy added that not many countries are able to have sponsors that are recognised internationally.

“Not often you go to the SEA Games which have local companies sponsor and everyone knows. When people come here and see it, they know,” he said.

Among the sponsors for this year's event include local brands Naza, Royal Selangor and TM among others.

The SEA Games are took take place from August 19 to 30 this year. Malaysia is set to play host for the sixth time in the history of the games.
