PETALING JAYA, May 20 ― PKR Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin is stepping down from her post as PKR Wanita chief, and will be replaced by her deputy Haniza Talha.

Zuraida announced her resignation during her policy speech at the PKR Wanita congress here today.

“The time has come for me to hand over the duty of fighting for the rights of women to my deputy Haniza Talha,” she said at the end of her policy speech.

Haniza is a two-term state assemblyman for Taman Medan in Selangor.

Zuraida said she will hand over responsibilities to Haniza gradually and has opted not to defend her position in the next party polls.

However, she denied that her decision was related to the graft probe against her special officer and former Ampang PKR Youth Chief, Datuk Adam Rosly.

“No, nothing to do with that,” Zuraida said when asked if the investigation against Adam had influenced her decision.

She also said that she has not decided yet if she will contest a post at the PKR central leadership after this.
