SHAH ALAM, May 12 — In just eight months, 27 young Selangor entrepreneurs built businesses that are flourishing today.
They all benefitted from the 5 Entrepreneur Stabilisation programme, one of four syllabuses offered by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).
One of the 27 was Muzam Jahuri who started a civil engineering company.
“I received support from the corporation several years ago and it helped me set up my own company. I never imagined venturing into a business like this but thanks to their support, I was determined to get it up and running.”
New entrepreneur Anna Rosdijanti, who offers Home Quran classes, has a wide range of students aged from four to 70.
“I teach them what they want to learn and the level they are comfortable at,” she said.
“This is a different kind of business compared to manufacturing or sales or management, but I enjoy guiding others on their spiritual journey,” said the mother of two.
Muzam and Anna were among the “graduates” at the PKNS commissioning and graduation ceremony at its office yesterday.
Certificates were awarded to 27 students from the Graduate Realising Opportunities Way Forward (Grow) programme, five companies under the 5 Entrepreneur Stabilisation programme, 11 companies under the
Umbrella Incubator Vendor programme and 38 companies under the Bumiputera Sub-Contractors programme.
The guest of honour at the ceremony was state exco member Amirudin Shari. He spoke about the state government’s mission to improve the economic situation of young Malaysians.
“I congratulate PKNS for its commitment and being pro-active in helping the nation’s economic development and further enhancing the skills of Bumiputera entrepreneurs,” he said.
