KUALA LUMPUR, April 12 ― The police said today its investigation on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) has been completed, and the relevant documents on the case have been handed over the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC).
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the investigations have been concluded for “some time”.
“Police is investigating 1MDB as a whole. We have completed the investigation and we have handed over the investigation papers to the AGC,” he told reporters during a press conference at Bukit Aman today.
The police chief however clarified that his force is not involved in the probe on former 1MDB subsidiary SRC International.
“We are not involved in the SRC case. The police is not investigating,” Khalid said.
He was responding to a comment made by Attorney-General Tan Sri Apandi Ali, who reportedly requested for the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission's probe of SRC to be completed soon.
In April last year, state news agency Bernama reported that the police had formed an investigation team for the 1MDB to scrutinise the report of the Public Accounts Committee.
Khalid had then said the investigation team, headed by him, would investigate the government’s strategic investment company under Section 409 of the Penal Code and Section 420 of the same code if any element of breach of trust or fraud was found.
