KUALA LUMPUR, April 6 — The Penang state government aims to complete the feasibility study report on the proposed undersea tunnel project within six months.
Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said after the study report is completed, the Penang state government would submit it to the ministry for further action.
“Today we were briefed by the Penang state government and being informed that the study report will be completed within six months.
“After completion, they will submit the report to us as some matters are within the jurisdiction of the federal government such as the Highway Authority and the Public Works Department,” he told reporters after a meeting with the Penang state government led by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng at the ministry here today.
The meeting was held to review the actual progress of the report implemented by the state government.
Fadillah said after the report (of the study) was submitted to the ministry, a committee would then be established to study the proposed project from the technical and engineering aspects.
He said the outcome of the study should be satisfactory to all parties involved either the state government or the federal government and other ministries and related agencies.
At the same press conference, Lim said so far the feasibility study report was 87 per cent completed following the delay concerning the land reclamation master plan.
He said the study also involved the proposed construction of three highways that would be connected to the tunnel. — Bernama
