JASIN, March 4 — Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V officially opened the Sungai Rambai Shariah Court, here today.

He was received by Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Barum and 3,000 residents at 11.30am.

At the event, Sultan Muhammad V witnessed a model of the Kota Al-Hasanah Complex which encompassed the court, Al-Hasanah Mosque, Al-Quran Academy, Malacca Tithe Centre Branch Office and the Malacca Islamic Religious Council.

He then signed the opening plaque before visiting the trial area of the court.

The RM2.9 million Sungai Rambai Shariah Court, built under the green technology concept, was completed early this year and started operations today.

Sultan Muhammad V then mingled and dined with those present before leaving.

The ceremony was the final event in his three-day visit programme to the state after he was appointed the 15th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Dec 13. — Bernama
