BUTTERWORTH, March 2 — The woman and a child found tied together on a beach in Teluk Bahang near here yesterday had died of drowning, Southwestern District Police chief Supt Anuar Omar confirmed.

He said the police had also classified the case as sudden death.  Anuar said the bodies were identified as Tan Li Gin, 21, and her two-year-old son, A. Eonithin, by her husband today.

“The post mortem report revealed that the woman was 11-week pregnant and that she and her son had died of drowning. No elements of foul play was found in the post mortem,” he told Bernama through WhatApps today.

The woman’s brother-in-law, who wanted to be known only as Eswaran, 24, said although Tan had a fight with his brother a few days earlier, she appeared to be unaffected.

“They were a happy couple and had been in love since they were in Form Three,” he said when met at the family home here today.

The bodies of Tan and her son were found bound to each other by a rafia string at the beach in front of Tropical Spice Garden, Teluk Bahang, near here at 6pm yesterday. — Bernama
