GEORGE TOWN, Feb 15 — DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today rejected former DAP vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim’s claim that two more senior DAP leaders will leave the party.
The Penang lawmaker said DAP has not received evidence of the planned departures.
“Tunku Aziz claimed there will be two senior legislators from DAP in Selangor and Johor who will quit. Let’s see if BN can orchestrate the end of DAP,”
“It’s something we have not heard of but we shall wait and see. If it does not happen, BN has a lot of explaining to do,” he said in an audio recording that he made available to the media in response to questions over Tunku Aziz’s claims.
Yesterday, Tunku Aziz reportedly said two senior DAP leaders will quit from the party within 48 hours, following resignations of the four Malacca DAP lawmakers.
Tunku Aziz also claimed the two new departures would trigger an exodus from DAP due to discontent over the party’s dalliance with former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, which was cited as the reason for the resignations of the four Malacca lawmakers.
Lim today denied there was unhappiness in DAP over its cooperation with Dr Mahathir, and insisted that the four Malacca leaders had quit for personal reasons and due to loss of support.
