KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 — The police are closing in on several individuals who allegedly assaulted a man at a cemetery for insulting a businessman who was gunned down in Penang on Thursday.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim said more than one person was involved in the assault of the heavily-tattooed 47-year-old victim on Friday.

He said this was based on a video recording which went viral on social media.

“Certainly, there will be more arrests as the group (of men) had intentionally caused hurt to the victim,” he told a press conference after officiating the 61st Federal Reserves Unit Day celebration in Cheras here today.

Noor Rashid said the police investigations into the incident would also determine whether there was an element of gangsterism.

Yesterday, Penang CID chief SAC Zainol Samah said the victim was assaulted at the Khoo Kongsi cemetery near the Thean Teik Highway in Air Itam, Penang on Friday.

The man sustained bruises, swelling and cuts in the region of the right eye, cheeks, nose, back and hands. — Bernama
