KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 30 ― Seeing former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and DAP leader Lim Kit Siang 'kissing' after decades of enmity was the "darkest day" for Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, she said today.

"The most saddening part for me is when our former leader started working with the opposition," she said during her speech at the Wanita Umno wing assembly today, without mentioning Dr Mahathir by name.

"The day I saw them 'kissing' with Lim Kit Siang is the darkest day in my life; I was ashamed, a leader whom we loved and celebrated for 22 years through all ups and downs," she added.

Dr Mahathir, who left Umno last year, is now chairman of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) that part of the Pakatan Harapan opposition pact.

"He used to say things about Lim Kit Siang, and see now what has happened," she said.

She said that Dr Mahathir's agenda was to ensure his son, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, rose to power.

She also said that in the current political environment, only Umno has remained true to principles.

"Now everyone wants to be in politics, like mushrooms after rain. The people are confused because there are those who even jump to three different political parties in a year," she said.

"Some were sworn enemies and now they hug each other, only Umno has remained true to principles," she added.
