Police say pre-Bersih 5 arrests made to prevent riots

PETALING JAYA, Nov 19 — Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh confirmed the arrests of 14 individuals last night, in relation to the Bersih 5 rally today.
The 14 individuals are as follow:

Amar said the arrests were made to prevent riots, breach of the peace and public order.
“The arrests were done in and around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor where they are being investigated under Section 147/551 of the Penal Code,” he said in a statement.
“All arrested will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Code Procedure.”
Maria, however, was arrested under Section 124C of the Penal Code for attempt to commit activities detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
“Investigations are being done following media reports involving a few individuals and non-governmental organisations believed to receive foreign funds and have been linked to the Open Society Foundation (OSF),” he said.”
Loke, however, is being investigated under Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act by the Negri Sembilan Police Contingent.
Red Shirts Jamal and Ariffin were arrested under Section 142 of the Penal code for being a member of unlawful gathering.
