KOTA KINABALU, Nov 4 — Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) chairman, Nur Misuari should not just hurl allegations that a Malaysian leader was involved in the kidnapping of foreign nationals from Sipadan in 2000 without proof, said Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman today.

“This is a serious allegation. Nur Misuari should name the individual who he alleged was involved in the kidnapping,” he said in a statement here today.

Nur Misuari had reportedly said he had proof to back his claim and would bring those involved to justice, including in the international courts.

In April 2000, 10 Malaysians and 11 foreigners were kidnapped by armed groups from the island.

Musa said such claims could tarnish the country’s image and state (Sabah) as well, and strain relations between Malaysia and Philippines.

Instead of taking a combative approach, the chief minister said Nur Misuari should exercise better diplomacy and seek for stability in his area and peace with his neighbours. —Bernama
