GEORGE TOWN, Sept 22 — DAP’s Lim Guan Eng has challenged the police to arrest army veteran Mohd Ali Baharom, Langkawi MP Datuk Nawawi Ahmad and controversial columnist Ridhuan Tee Abdullah.

The Penang chief minister told Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar to prove that the police does not practise double standards by arresting these three individuals.

“If Jeff Ooi can be arrested, why Ali Tinju is not arrested, why Nawawi not arrested, why Ridhuan Tee is not arrested?” he asked in a press conference at his office today.

Jelutong MP Ooi was arrested on Tuesday and later released on police bail over an alleged tweet on the death of PAS spiritual adviser Datuk Dr Haron Din.

Lim pointed out that Mohd Ali, better known as Ali Tinju, had allegedly made physical threats against Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah.

“And Nawawi had linked the ‘Malaysian Official 1’ in the 1MDB [1Malaysia Development Berhad] case by the US Department of Justice to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” he claimed.

He said Tee should also be arrested for calling the Malaysian Olympian athletes “ultra kiasu” and for accusing them of being only interested in individual sports in order to reap more benefits.

“I hope the IGP can show that the police is not practicing double standards by arresting these people too,” he said.

Several days ago, Khalid said the police is investigating Mohd Ali for criminal intimidation over his alleged threats against Chin.
