SEREMBAN, Sept 21 ― A baker was charged in the Sessions Court here today with posting offensive remarks against the police through Facebook.
Idris Md Nasir, 44, claimed trial to committing the offence at a house in Jalan Anggerik 12, Taman PD Utama, Port Dickson near here, at 5.07pm on April 23, 2015.
The charge is under Section 233(1)(A) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), which is punishable under Section 233(3) of the same Act.
The accused faces a fine of not more than RM50,000 or imprisonment of not more than one year, or both, if found guilty and is also liable to a fine of RM1,000 per day if he continues to commit the offence after conviction.
Judge G.Ramesh set RM4,000 as bail and October 19 for remention.
Deputy public prosecutor Siti Aishah Abd Rashid appeared for the prosecution while counsel Hamidi Mohd Noh represented the accused. ― Bernama
