GERIK, Sept 7 — The Pengkalan Hulu Magistrate’s Court, about 50 miles from here, today ordered a police constable to be remanded for four days to facilitate investigations into a primary school teacher’s assault claim.

Perak Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Gan Tian Kee confirmed that the suspect aged 32, who joined the police force in 2003, was being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code.

Yesterday, Perak police chief, Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Hanafi confirmed the detention of a policeman after a teacher claimed to have sustained injuries including a broken left hand while being accosted by the suspect and the latter’s friend at 7.15pm on Aug 30.     

Meanwhile, a reliable source said the Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Sapi, Lenggong teacher has returned to his village in Kelantan to seek traditional treatment.

It is understood that he had been given three weeks’ leave to obtain counselling for trauma following the alleged incident. — Bernama
