PUTRAJAYA, Sept 6 — The government targets the self-sufficiency level for vegetable production in the country to reach 67.6 per cent by year end as compared to 54 per cent last year, said Deputy Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Nogeh Gumbek.

He said the vegetables export had also increased from RM682 million in 2010 to RM912 million last year and that the amount was expected to rise up to RM1.1billion in 2020.

“We are not only focusing on quantity, but also quality to ensure vegetables sold are safe to eat and contain high nutrition,” he told reporters after opening the Southeast Asian Vegetables Symposium 2016, here today.
