GEORGE TOWN, Sept 1 ― The father of a Penang State Assemblyman has been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to assist in an investigation into a corruption case to get affordable homes in the state.

Penang MACC Director Datuk Abd Aziz Aban said that after interviewing the man, the MACC had detained him at about 10.30 tonight to assist in the investigation on an alleged corruption case.

So far, the MACC had taken statements from eight individuals excluding the pensioner concerned, to assist in the investigation on the case, he told Bernama here today.

It was learnt that the Assemblyman concerned would be present at the MACC office tomorrow morning for his statement regarding the allegation to be recorded.

Earlier, the 68-year-old pensioner was present at the MACC office in Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah at about 12.50pm today together with his son and a lawyer to complete investigation on the allegation. ― Bernama
