KLANG, May 27 — Former Selangor mentri besar Dr Mohamad Khir Toyo regained his full freedom this morning after he was released from a parole granted just two months ago.

Khir, who was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment for corruption and only served half the term, signed his release papers at 9am at the Klang parole office.

He was convicted in 2011 for using his powers as a civil servant to obtain two plots of land and a mansion in Shah Alam, and finally imprisoned last year after the Federal Court upheld his conviction.

“I am very happy. I passed a phase in my life. And I changed alot,” he told reporters following his release.
He also said that his “thinking” has changed as he had done plenty of reading during his six months in prison.
