KUALA LUMPUR, May 10 — A computer shop caretaker pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today, to committing gang robbery on a journalist last month.

K. Rajandran, 40, along with another person at large, was charged with committing the offence while armed with a knife, and seizing a gold chain and RM30 from Mobilogic portal journalist, V. Moganraj, 25, at Jalan Tun Sambathan in Brickfields here at 8am on April 1.

The accused, who was unrepresented, requested the court to allow a minimum bail although the offence was not bailable.

Judge Azman Mustapha did not allow bail as Rajandran’s guarantor was not present in court.

He fixed May 23 for mention of the case. 

In the same court, carpark attendant Muhammad Ariffin Abdullah, 22, pleaded not guilty to robbing a waitress of an identification card, Samsung mobile phone, two automated teller machine (ATM) cards, watch and gold ring. 

He was charged with committing the offence on Nurmashuda Yahaya, 26, while armed with a knife at a sidewalk along the Klang River heading towards the Jelatek Light Rail Trasit station here at 6.30am on Oct 21, last year.

The court fixed May 20 for mention. — Bernama
