PUTRAJAYA, April 7 — A lawyer handed over forensic evidence to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here today in connection with the disposal of land in Taman Manggis, Penang.

The lawyer Datuk Abu Backer Sidek who submitted the forensic evidence asked the MACC to expedite investigations against Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, on the sale of land and the purchase of a bungalow at below market price.

Speaking to the media after handing over the forensic evidence to the MACC here, he said the outcome of the investigation was related to the flow of transactions involving five companies.

He claimed that the five companies were owned by the same individual with the right to change the conditions of sale anytime even if the payment has yet to be fully settled.

Abu Backer said forensic investigations conducted also concluded that the previous owner of the bungalow, Phang Li Koon, is a partner of Tang Yong Chew, the majority shareholder and director of the company Kuala Lumpur International Dental Centre Sdn Bhd (KLIDC).

KLIDC is the company that bought the land in Taman Manggis which was probably sold at below market price, he said.

The Taman Manggis land was previously allocated for the construction of a housing project for the hardcore poor (PPRT) but instead the developer planned to build a private hospital and a hotel. — Bernama
