KUALA LUMPUR, March 2 — Sime Darby Property Bhd has collaborated with KYS Education Group to set up KYS International School in the KL EAST integrated development.

In a statement today, Sime Darby Property said both parties had signed an agreement which outlined a long-term land lease arrangement between the developer and education provider, for the setting up of the international school on a 2.43ha site located within reach of the Kuala Lumpur City Centre.

“Once developed the KYS International School will be able to accommodate up to 900 students and will cater to pre-school, primary and secondary education, following both the local Kurikulum Baru Sekolah Menengah and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education,” said Sime Darby Property Managing Director Datuk Jauhari Hamidi.

The international school will also be offering A-Level education Sime Darby Property said the KYS International School was strategically positioned to tap the expatriate market and higher income households, key demographics of KL East.

The development of KYS International School in KL East will be undertaken independently by the KYS Education Group, it said.

KYS Education Group founder, Tan Sri Halim Saad, said KYS International School at KL East was the group’s first foray outside of Melaka.

“KYS has a reputation as one of the best schools in the country and we have produced good quality, all rounded students for the past 20 years.

We see this as the first step to further collaborations with Sime Darby Property in the future,” he said.

KL East, located 800m from the Gombak LRT station, is set to be an upmarket residential area. — Bernama
