NIBONG TEBAL, Feb 21 — A lorry driver rammed his heavy vehicle into 22 cars and two motorcycles to drive through the congested area near the Taman Berjaya market here today, causing all the smaller vehicles to be badly damaged.

In the 8am incident, the lorry driver, in his 30s, was said to have lost his temper because his lorry could not move as the cars and motorcycles were parked on both sides of the road and somehow left it impassable.

Car owner, known only as Lam, 37, said he and his wife were inside the market when they heard the commotion and rushed out to find out why.

“We all screamed at the lorry driver, asking him to stop ramming into the cars, including my Proton Wira.” “Almost everyday, people who came to the market will park their cars on the roadside,” he said.

Another car owner, Poo Sim, 34, said she was walking to the market with her eight-year-old daughter after parking her car on the roadside when the incident occurred.

“It was fortunate that we were not in the car because my Perodua Myvi was badly rammed from behind. Even the rear windscreen shattered,” she said.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Selatan police chief Supt Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the police were investigating the incident and efforts were being done to track down the lorry driver.
