PETALING JAYA, Feb 19 — Datuk Bung Moktar Radin is recuperating after undergoing a kidney transplant in China, his relatives said.

His mother-in-law Fauziah Khatijah Musa said the Kinabatangan MP was making a speedy recovery and was surrounded by family and friends.

“He is cheerful and active. He has been ill for several months and is looking forward to making a full recovery.

“We are glad that his friends have come to visit in a show of support,” she said, adding that Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi, and International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Ahmad Maslan had visited him since he returned from China on February 7.

Bung Moktar is currently warded at the Prince Court Medical Centre in Kuala Lumpur for observation.

It was reported in January that he was critically ill. He had, however, denied the rumours but confirmed that he was being treated for a “health condition’’.

He was reported to have been making frequent trips to China for medical treatment and was finally able to have the transplant done.
