SONGKHLA, Feb 4 — A 47-year-old man, believed to be involved in the killing of a Malaysian businessman in Hatyai last December, surrendered to local police this morning.

Ninth Division Police chief, Police Lt Gen Wirapon Shuenpakdee said the man, known as Apichon Saelow, surrendered at the Thunglung police station, here, accompanied by his lawyer.

“He had denied all charges related to the killing. Police also did not allow him bail,” he told reporters today.

According to Wirapon, the man was accused of cooperating to kill someone, illegally having a firearm and ammunition and bringing the firearm to a public place without a permit.

In the incident on December 4 last year, a Malaysian businessman from Kedah, Lee Ah Wan, 54, was shot dead while driving a luxury car from Sadao to the Hatyai International Airport with his wife.

Individuals in a vehicle shot at Lee’s car with an M16 rifle, which also seriously injured his wife. — Bernama
