KUCHING, Jan 23 — Sarawak PKR said today that it and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) will meet next Tuesday to resolve conflicting claims over seats they want to contest in the coming state elections.

“The overlapping claims involved seats in Malay/Melanau areas, which I believe we will have no problems in resolving,” state PKR chief Baru Bian said.

He said the two Pakatan Harapan parties have to settle their overlapping claims as the state elections are expected to be held before June.

“Basically, Amanah will be contesting seats which were contested by PAS in the 2011 state elections,” he said.

He said Sarawak PKR will also hold a separate discussion with the DAP on overlapping claims over seats.

“Unlike with Amanah, we are eyeing many seats which the DAP is also interested to contest,” he said, adding that the meeting with the DAP has not been fixed yet.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Amanah deputy chief William Manggor said his party was eyeing Satok, Tupong, Pantai Damai, Samariang and Sebuyau.

“We will consider putting candidates in other seats after making our assessments on the ground,” he said.
