KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — United States President Barack Obama left Malaysia today after attending Asean-related meetings here in conjunction with the 27th Asean Summit.

His Air Force One plane took off from the Royal Malaysian Air Force Base in Subang on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur at 5.20 pm.

Present to see him off were Malaysian Education Minister and minister-in-attendance Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, US ambassador to Malaysia Joseph Yun as well as senior officials from the Malaysian Foreign Ministry.

It was Obama’s second visit to Malaysia, the first being the state visit he made in April 2014.

His engagements since arriving in the Malaysian capital Friday included attending the 3rd Asean-United States Summit and the 10th East Asia Summit.

Obama also spoke at the Asean Business and Investment Summit 2015 and had a lively townhall session with some 500 emerging leaders under the Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI).

The president also visited a charity-based education institution for refugee and urban poor children in Kuala Lumpur. — Bernama
