Elder sister of Agong laid to rest

ALOR SETAR, Nov 5 — The late Tunku Hamidah Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, the elder sister of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, was laid to rest at the Langgar Royal Mausoleum, here, at noon today. 

Tunku Hamidah, 90, died of old age at Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital at 11.50am yesterday.

The funeral prayer was led by Kedah mufti Datuk Paduka Syeikh Muhammad Baderudin Ahmad at Dewan Penghadapan, Istana Anak Bukit at 9.30am before her remains were taken to the royal mausoleum.

Among those present to pay their last respects were the chairman of the Council of Regency of Kedah, Tunku Sallehuddin ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and state executive councillors. — Bernama
