KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — The Malaysian Youth Council (MYC) is optimistic Budget 2016 can meet the needs of the people and strengthen domestic consumption for continued economic growth.

MYC president Mua’amar Ghadafi Jamal Jamaludin said the focus of Budget 2016 appears to fit in with the current economic situation of the country.

“MYC is optimistic the overall allocation of RM267.2 billion can be utilised to meet the needs of the people.

“It will consolidate domestic needs via incentives by the government for continued national economic growth,” he said in a statement posted on the MBM website, today.

He said six of the seven proposals submitted by MYC much earlier to the government via the National Budget Consultation Council have also been included in Budget 2016.

MYC’s six proposals included in Budget 2016 are related to social entrepreneurship, industry workers/ skills (TVET), Research and Development (Innovations), Non-Governmental Organisations Youth Empowerment, Housing Scheme and Application Value.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak tabled Budget 2016 themed ‘Prospering the Rakyat’.

Mua’amar said youth development also continued to receive attention in Budget 2016 with the granting of scholarships and educational assistance, with an overall allocation of almost RM2.8 billion. — Bernama
