KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 — Police are on the lookout for three more suspects to aid investigations on the recent bombing in Bangkok but are awaiting biometric details and DNA evidence from Thai authorities to help with the identification process, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

The deputy prime minister and home minister said the police are already in possession of the names of the three individuals believed to be linked to the blast.

"However, two things that we need are the biometric and any DNA evidence that will ease the process of their identification and ease the arrests to be made based on the MLA ( Mutual Legal Agreement) with neighbouring countries," Zahid told reporters here after attending the 10th Asean Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (10th AMMTC).

Zahid said that after Malaysia's previous eight arrests, it was established that some had direct links with the bombing incident.

"If there is direct link, it means they were directly involved with the bombers or they were merely transporting the people here," he added.

Malaysian police have currently arrested eight people, including four believed to be ethnic Uighurs, for questioning in connection with last month's bombing of a shrine in Bangkok that killed 20 people.

They were detained in Kuala Lumpur as well as in Kelantan, deputy inspector-general of police (DIGP) Datuk Noor Rashid Ibrahim said.
