KOTA BARU, Sept 21 — PAS today reiterated its stand that it would not cooperate with DAP in Pakatan Rakyat 2.0 and with Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), which is in the process of registration.
Its vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the decision was made following DAP and Amanah’s betrayal against PAS.
“We cannot be with Pakatan Rakyat 2.0 due to the presence of DAP and Amanah which we regard as having betrayed and run away from us,” he told reporters after handing out aid to fire victims at Pondok Madrasah al-Fununiah al-Tunjuniah, here, today.
In the fire outbreak last night, three wooden houses, two cars and two motorcycles were destroyed.
Mohd Amar, who is also Kelantan Deputy Menteri Besar, said even though PAS realised there was a need for close cooperation among the opposition parties to topple the Barisan Nasional government in the next general election, at the moment PAS was sticking to its stand of non-cooperation with DAP and Amanah.
“Although it has not been officially discussed, that was the feeling expressed before by the PAS president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang). In the current situation and developments, an official discussion on cooperation is unacceptable.” Mohd Amar said PAS was prepared to move along alone in the next general election if the situation forced it to.
“We in PAS had the experience of being on our own...win or lose is destined by Allah,” he said.
Mohd Amar said PAS would definitely be defending its seats although faced with the possibility of being involved in three or four-cornered fights if Amanah also decided to contest in the next general election.
He also said that the PAS elected representatives who betrayed the party and went against the bai’ah (oath of allegiance) should relinquish their post to save themselves from punishment from Allah.
“The bai’ah taken in the name of Allah is not something to play around with...that’s why we ask them to save themselves by quitting their elected rep post.
“If they are stubborn, we cannot do anything to force them as we don’t have the power... but if something happens, they will have to bear it themselves,” he said. — Bernama
