ALOR STAR, July 16 — A youth was killed while four others were injured when the car they were travelling lost control and crashed into a tree at Jalan Sungai Yan – Guar Chempedak at 3.45am this morning.
Yan acting police chief ASP Abdul Hamid Md Isa said in the incident, the victim’s car, a Perodua Viva, was heading to Yan from Guar Chempedak when it lost control and veered into the opposite lane.
“The car later crashed into a tree and skidded into a canal beside the road,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
The dead was identified as Muhamad Zafis Khalid, 20, (front passenger) while the car driver, Mohamad Khairizam Ali, 19, suffered a broken leg and three other passengers, Muhamad Azizi Ahmad, 20, Muhammad Muhtazah Osman, 19 and Muhammad Syamsul Mohd Zamri, 19, who were seated at the back, suffered minor injuries.
The body of Muhamad Zafis was sent to the Yan Hospital for post-mortem. — Bernama
