KOTA BARU, July 1 — A 15-year-old boy lost four of his fingers in a homemade firecracker explosion at Kampung Kubang Palas, Tumpat, last night.

Mohammad Rizaimie Zamri suffered severe injuries to his right hand and is being treated at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZII) here.

The victim’s mother Che Rosmaini Che Sulaiman, 38, said the incident happened around 8pm.

“My son left the house after breaking fast. I heard a loud bang but did not think it came from the firecrackers that he and his friends had set off.
