SEREMBAN, April 16 — The Sessions court here acquitted and discharge two Tamil school teachers of unauthorised possession of UPSR (Year Six Performance Assessment) examination papers last year.

Judge Datuk Jagjit Singh said the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case against Subbarau@ Kamalanathan, 35, and P. Murugan, 37.

Subbarau who is based at Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT) Ladang Batang Benar, near here, had faced five charges while Murugan who had taught at SJKT Ladang Lenggeng, near here, faced one charge.

Subbarau was accused of unauthorised possession of the Mathematics 035/1 and Mathematics 015/1; Tamil Language-Comprehension 036 and Tamil Language-Writing 037; and Science 081 Papers via a smartphone.

He was charged with committing the offences between 8pm on September 8 and September 16, 2014, at a house in Jalan Bukit Galena 13, Taman Bukit Galena, Fasa 4, Seremban here.

Murugan was accused of unauthorised possession of the Mathematics 015/1 Paper, between 12.15am on September 8 and September 17, 2014, via a smartphone at a house in Taman Sri Mawar, Mantin, near here.

Negri Sembilan prosecution unit chief Ahmad Terrirudin Mohd Salleh and deputy public prosecutor Mohd Farid Mohd Mokhtar represented the prosecution in the trial.
