KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — Cartoonist Zunar has been arrested by the police for sedition over a tweet that apparently referred to the judiciary related to today’s Anwar Ibrahim sodomy verdict, Malaysiakini reported.

The online news portal quoted Zunar as saying, “Police are at my house now to arrest me. They say they will bring me to a magistrate tomorrow for remand.”

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar had directed the police cybercrime unit to investigate PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli over a Twitter post.

In succinct orders posted on his personal Twitter account, the IGP told the Police Cyber Investigation Response Centre (PCIRC) to add the Pandan MP to the list of people they will investigate for sedition. Khalid also instructed PCIRC to investigate Zunar and DAP MP Nga Kor Ming over tweets relating to the Court of Appeal’s decision to uphold Anwar’s sodomy conviction.
