BUKIT MERTAJAM, Dec 1 — Police have detained a man after the car he was driving skidded and overturned in front of a supermarket in Machang Bubok here after fleeing from police inspection in Kulim, Kedah, last night.
Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) deputy police chief Supt. Baharom Abu said before the 8.30pm incident, a motorcycle patrol unit (URB) from the Kulim police headquarters stumbled upon a car that was in a suspicious situation.
“While the URB team was patrolling in Taman Selasih, Kulim, near here, they came across a Proton Wira and the car was flagged down for inspection but the driver refused to stop and sped off towards Machang Bubok with the URB team in pursuit,” he said when contacted here today.
Baharom said as soon as it reached Machang Bubok, the car driven by a man in his 20’s skidded and crashed into a lamp post in the area.
“In the accident however, only the man’s vehicle was damaged,” he said.
