KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 ― Umno MP Datuk Bung Moktar Radin asked police today to investigate PKR lawyer Latheefa Koya for allegedly calling for his “elimination”, adding that he will formally lodge a report if she fails to apologise within 24 hours.

Bung made the request after a Twitter user alerted him of a tweet by Latheefa from this morning mentioning the elimination of a “MP Kebinatangan”.

“@Sandran41H @LatheefaKoya Saya meminta pihak @PDRMsia menyiasat kenyataan @LatheefaKoya utk menghapuskan saya .ini satu ugutan melampau,” Bung tweeted in Malay, including the Twitter accounts of the police and Latheefa.

Bung’s tweet was made as a reply to Johor DAP’s Consumer Rights Bureau chief A. Sandara Segaran, at his account @Sandran41H.

Earlier today in Parliament, Bung Moktar said those those calling for the abolition of the Sedition Act must be arrested and investigated under the same law, accusing the legislation’s critics of harbouring “ill intentions”.

Instead of repealing the colonial-era law, the Kinabatangan MP also suggested that the government be more vigilant in pursuing critics of the Act and apprehend them for allegedly committing sedition.

Latheefa had tweeted in Malay earlier this morning: “Sebelum kita mansuhkan Akta Hasutan - elok hapuskan MP Kebinatangan tu dulu”.

Latheefa’s tweet has since been deleted, but she confirmed with Malay Mail Online that she posted it this morning.

She has since replied to Bung on Twitter, claiming that the Umno Supreme Councillor is being “childish” by using the police as his own bodyguards and was intimidating an anti-Sedition Act activist.

In July, Bung had caused a stir in the international media for tweeting a salute to dead Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler following a win by Germany in a World Cup semi-final match, which led to a rebuke from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
