SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim’s key aide and former political secretary resigned from PKR today to protest the party’s “unethical” sacking of the Selangor mentri besar.

Faekah Husin, who is CEO of Mentri Besar Incorporated (MBI), a state conglomerate, said she “lost faith” in the party leadership over its failure to deal with the on-going Selangor MB crisis.

“The actions conducted by the party leadership against the Selangor mentri besar is a direct contradiction from the party’s principles since its formation back in 1999.

“I hereby declare that I am leaving the party effective immediately,” Faekah said in an official letter addressed to PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail sighted by Malay Mail Online.

Faekah, who is also operations coordinator for Khalid’s Port Klang state constituency, is considered to be among the embattled MB’s closest confidantes.

She was among the first wave of leaders who joined PKR during its formation in 1999.

PKR’s disciplinary committee decided to expel Khalid last Saturday mainly for his open defiance of the party’s decision that he must step down to make way for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

Khalid’s sacking leaves the coalition in a precarious state and will add to worries that snap polls may have to be called to ward off a stalemate.

PKR’s share of the 56 seat Selangor state assembly drops to 13 from 14. Its allies DAP and PAS have 15 seats each while Umno, the opposition in the state, has 12.
